I have it too!!! =D

Are you running it through a cabinet sim of any kind?
Sounds pretty good, but it can sound even better, I think.
I might submit a quick demo of the way I use it.
Anyway, cool riffz.

I'm using impulses.

I'm going to have to agree with CWN.

The guitar is really thick, but it doesn't have the highs to really cut through the mix.
So as a result, you've kinda had to raise their volume, which covers up the orchestral parts a bit.
What kind of EQ'ing did you do on the guitars? it sounds like a high-shelf that's way too low. Try boosting around 1.5-4kHz, to get some of those higher harmonics to come out and play.
As far as riffs and structure, you've got a solid tune here. Lots of changes and variety. The drums sound good, the choir/orchestral stuff is really neat, the playing is solid.
There are some parts (starting around :52) where the quiet sections are interrupted by string talk. I usually just cut those little sections between stops out completely, or put a gate at the end of the effect loop to cut them out.
Hope this helps.
Oh, and here's something I took part in, which could use another review: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/liste n/209134 .
THanks a lot, bro, and keep it metal. \m/

Definitely not bad!

I'd have to say that you did a very good job of recording this demo.
There are a few things that I think could use some work; mainly, the guitar tone.
While it's pretty good, I think it could be better.
It's a little thick, and completely covers the bass guitar.
Other than that, it sounds very impressive. The drums sound excellent, given the nature of the recording (a demo, as opposed to a release).
What did you use to master, if you don't mind my asking?
It kind of sounds like there's a multiband compressor/maximizer in there, but I can't tell for sure.
Anyway, excellent job with the recording. Major kudos.

jbotsd responds:

thanks for the review

yes i do have a multiband limiter in the master

and can i say you have a good set of ears :)

the bass i deliberetaly lowered and put on a level so its sits par with the bass drums so you cant hear all the mistakes in it . . . because the bassist i recorded with wasnt quite the best . . .

the guitar tone i agree does need some more work but considering the nature of the recordings (being a demo) i really didnt spend as much time as a i should have mixing and mastering . . .

the drums were also programmed in this song :P

as it saved alot of time and mics ;p

for the master i used . .
graphic eq
tube compression
multiband limiter
de esser
reverb
and a few other post effects

i used some mastering software and also some hardware i have in my rack (reverb, pre amp and compressor)

thank you for the critic / review . . it was much appreciated

I agree with Kor...

This was a total ball to be a part of, and I'm glad it came out so well.
Can't wait to get started on the next one!

Fuckin' awesome.

HappyHomicide responds:

Haha thanks man. I definitely think people hate me here.

Definitely pretty cool.

I liked the clean part a lot; it's a cool sounding riff. Your clean guitar tone is awesome as well.
The long lead didn't quite tickle my fancy after the first 45 seconds or so.
The tone of your distortion started to grate on my nerves a bit.
My recommendation is to turn down the gain and treble, to get that sharp edge off the high-end, and then throw some delay on it to soften it up even more.
Another problem was, I was waiting for the solo to end and the drums to kick in and start the song, but it never came. =[
What would be really awesome is if you kind of mimicked Bullet for my Valentine's 'Say Goodnight' and have a clean verse, clean prechorus, maybe a heavy distorted chorus, then go back into the clean part.
Have about three solos, an awesome heavy bridge... the possibilities are endless.
So finish it! I'd like to hear what you can do.
Let me know if you'd like to collab a little, I have some ideas that might go with this.

Odd swells?

There are some odd swells during the note changes.
I'm not sure what's causing them, but whatever it is, it's very distracting.
I've heard of orchestral VST's having problems with notes swelling up to full volume instead of hitting instantly.
I think that, combined with the notes changing on every beat, is causing the swells.
Unfortunately, I can't think of a good way to fix it.
Compression might help some, so you could try that.
If the stupid swells weren't so distracting, I'd say you had an awesome beat.
I do agree that some changes would be nice, though.
Overall, though, the tune is good.
Keep up the great work.

Blasphem-E responds:

Thanks for the review. Ya, I kind of noticed the swelling a bit, but I honestly didn't personally mind it. I'll see what I can do about that in future

Needs some work.

Guitars sound pretty cool, but the drums need some work.
Primarily, the kick is way too quiet, and a little too deep, with no 'pop'.
The cymbals are also slightly too loud, but not too bad.
The snare... I don't know why, but I don't like it. Something about it just doesn't sound good.
Anyway, that's all my opinion, take it or leave it.
Sounds good overall though, I can tell you put some work into this one.
Good job.

KitsuMech responds:

Yeah I tried using a different drum kit and in FL studio, so it's like learning all over again @_@.

Love the criticism on the drums, I'll tweak 'em around and get a better balance before the final product is here. Thanks man!

Metal. Fucking metal.

That's what I'm talking about.
Fuck yes.
Cool lyrics, awesome double-tracking...
Fuck.
3.85 / 5.00 (+ 0.38) <- all my wimpy-assed 5 could do.

Bad-Man-Incorporated responds:

Thanks bro. I wish I had more time to play around with this. I barely even got warmed up.

Anyways, thanks for the vote as well. Regardless of how much you raised it, a 5 is a 5 and much appreciated!\m/

Not bad for synth.

As a rule, I hate synth guitars.
They usually sound like wet douche, and make me want to cry.
However, looking past the synth guitars and annoying drums, there's a decent song here.
Pretty cool riffs, good structure. Overall, a decent song that would be greatly improved by live instruments. Seeing as to how that's not possible, I didn't count off for that, just the subpar mixing (snare's too loud, all the guitar is in one channel, etc.).
You've got an all-right song here, man. Now, all you gotta do is learn guitar.
Lawl.

asmorbidus responds:

yeah, the only real instrument i play is drums and a very moderate amount of bass. the reason the guitar sounds so far right is because i think i spread it too much, i put the bass and guitar 25% left and 25% right respectively. were both pretty much in agreement about the guitar sound, but if you want, your more than welcome to lay down the track. i could then the bassline, record that and then re-mix the audio, and get it to where its worth atleast a 3 and a 9.

I'm a dude. I play guitar. I am metal to the core. Don't try to over-metal me. You will be annihilated.
